STRYDENBURG is located on the N12 – 175km north of Victoria West. It is a small merino-wool production town.
Strydenburg was established on the farm Roodepan by the Dutch Reformed Church in 1893.The “town of strife” translated to English got its name from members of the parishes arguing over its name and location in 1892.
Brakpan is a dry salt-pan skirting the western side of the town.Flamingos visit the pan after good rains.

Preserved examples of Karoo architecture are in abundance as is a Cruciform church and Aloe Garden.
